Trampoline Book Club
The boys proved today that you really can read anywhere…..even the trampoline! As I continued chipping away at Project “I Loathe Spring Clean-up” out back, the boys managed to keep themselves thoroughly entertained with some superhero stories and role playing in the trampoline. This weather is utterly delicious and I foresee many more Trampoline Book Club Meetings in the near future!!!

We are all so happy to welcome Uncle Jeff & Auntie Jessica’s sweet baby boy into our family! We are so over the moon excited for them and we can’t wait to meet our nephew/cousin! The boys have such great ideas for things they’re going to teach their precious cousin…..
Hayden: “I will teach Baby Brodie to do Power Ranger moves, read books, do math, and play with my toys.”
Quinny: “I will teach Baby Brodie to eat, take baths, hug his mommy, and sleep.”
Cub Scouts….start your engines!
Hayden (and Scott!) were very excited to participate in our pack’s ‘09 Pinewood Derby! After poring over designs online, debating aerodynamics, style, and color the boys were ready to begin “their” car. And then Scott got to work..ha ha! Hayden jumped right back into the design process after the last coat of paint dried, and proceeded to decorate his new set of wheels with some cute Cyber Racer decals I scored for him at the BS store. He was very happy to have scored the top spot in the 1st heat and despite not ultimately winning a trophy, he was soooo happy to share news of his friend Nick’s win in the Most Creative Category!

Ok, I’m a few months behind on posting these, but still wanted to share! Hayden & Quinny hosted their very own game night in January featuring several rounds of Wii bowling, boxing and golf, followed by a round or 2 of pizza and snacks. The boxing game was particularly amusing to witness what with the “Get down and stay down!”, “You want a piece of me?”, and “Upper cut, upper cut, low blow!” comments! Not surprising to anyone who knows him, Q is a TKO champ, and he was even sporting the bandages to prove his prowess. Fun, fun night with some awesome little dudes and we can’t wait until the next one!

The Quinnster is all suited up and ready for some Winter ‘09 Snow Patrol action! This $2 burglar mask is, by far, one of the best winter gear purchases. The little dude loves donning this menacing mask while patroling the Fisher Compound. Not quite sure if he’s going to make any money shoveling driveways whilst sporting the burglar look though….take a peek at the last picture! Ha!

The H-man is trying something new this Winter…..Basketball! When I asked him if he wanted to give it a try, he pondered for a minute and then asked me some names of basketball players. Being completely behind the times (at all times) with sports, I had to dig deep into the recesses of my non-athletic brain and came up with: Shaq, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Larry Bird. I’m pretty sure none of the aforementioned superstars are still playing…right? Anywho, he seemed pleased with my response and let out of a jubilant “He shoots….He scores!”, leading me to believe that his answer was YES!
We were happy to find out that the SAFE (Sports Are For Everyone) Program was making its debut in our town this winter, and even happier to find out that a few of Hayden’s pals were also signed up for the session. This program encourages kiddos with varying disabilities to participate in a sport with positive supports and fosters a completely fun environment! The coaches were great and the kids all seemed to have a really good time! Hayden did a great job and was really happy to meet some more new friends and coaches, at least until he got bonked on the head with a ball. Oops! He managed to hold it together pretty well though and very graciously thanked all of the coaches for their help before heading out. Can’t wait until next week’s session!

Halloween Rewind
Yes, yes, I know Halloween was nearly a month ago but we’ve had a whirlwind of a month, and I’m finally trying to play catch up during these early Saturday morning hours. Our Halloween was an extra special one this year as we were joined by Grandpa Charley, Grandma Candy, and Dylan! They flew in on Thursday and were able to spend a very nice, long weekend with us! We definitely kept them busy from the moment they landed and it was really great having an a few extra sets of hands, eyes and cameras. While I was on 1st grade duty at Hayden’s Halloween party, they were more than happy to oblige my request to join the Q-man for his preschool’s costume parade and party on Halloween.
Quinny and Dylan spent the rest of the afternoon entertaining the grandparents at the lunch and the park before heading home to meet the H-man’s bus. And then the rest of the fun began! The boys all played barber shop with Grandma Candy and let her spray their beautiful blonde hair red and green! Note to self: read the instructions/warnings ahead of time…fair haired little boys will require several washings to morph pink hair back to blonde.
After much ado, the vampire, Batman Vampire, and Ben 10 Vampire (they all wanted to wear Hayden’s costume but thankfully they were swayed with the promise of extra vampire teeth and capes) were ready to set out for their trick-or-treating adventures! After a stop at our zaniest of neighbors we headed a few blocks away to visit our friends The Johnsons and The Hartles. Along the way, the boys were just as enthralled by the overflowing piles of leaves as they were by the treats. After about an hour of traipsing about, the tired motley crew was ready to head home.
